Hello, from Washington, DC, I am Beth Brashear. I was born outside of Pittsburgh but spent the majority of my youth in Charles Town, WV. I have lived in the DC area for the last 15 years and absolutely love our Nation’s Capital!
My training career started in 2006 and I haven’t looked back! My experience includes being a Training Instructor and a Training Manager along with having my Master Trainer® certification and Training & Development Diploma from Langevin. I am currently working towards my Bachelors in Psychology.
My training philosophy is that while training needs to be educational, it also needs to be fun!
Life’s Biggest LessonsMy first year in training, my boss at the time, gave me the story below with a starfish pin. To this day, I have it displayed in my office. If I can make a difference in at least one person’s life, then I have been successful. The Starfish Story by: Loren Eisley
One day a man was walking along the beach, when he noticed a boy hurriedly picking up and gently throwing things into the ocean. Approaching the boy, he asked “Young man, what are you doing?” The boy replied, “Throwing starfish back into the ocean. The surf is up and the tide is going out. If I don’t throw them back, they’ll die.” The man laughed to himself and said, “Don’t you realize there are miles and miles of beach and hundreds of starfish? You can’t make any difference!” After listening politely, the boy bend down, picked up another starfish, and threw it into the surf. Then, smiling at the man, he said,
“I made a difference to that one.”
My Favorite Langevin MomentI do not have just one particular favorite Langevin moment as I have favorite moments! My favorite moments are the “Ah-ha!” moments participants have when something I have shared with them clicks with their world.
